VIETNAM’S TEXTILE INDUSTRY: STRONG GROWTH MOMENTUM IN EARLY 2025

Vietnam’s textile industry is recording positive signals from the beginning of 2025 with a significant increase in orders. Many businesses in the sector have reported favorable business conditions, opening up prospects for strong growth throughout the year.

New Wave of Orders

According to information from businesses, the volume of orders secured for Q1/2025 is quite abundant, with some enterprises having orders through Q2/2025. This is a positive sign indicating that the international market is gradually recovering and showing strong demand for Vietnamese textile products.

Vietnamese textile businesses expand into new markets, securing strong order volumes for Q1/2025

Mr. Pham Quang Anh – Director of Dony Garment Company Limited, shared that the company has signed a contract with a new market in Africa for 110,000 shirts, while many orders for Q1/2025 have already been confirmed. Mr. Quang Anh attributes this impressive growth to the company’s active market expansion strategy, not only maintaining traditional markets such as the US, Middle East, and domestic market but also exploring new markets including Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Russia.

Similarly, Mr. Pham Van Viet – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Viet Thang Jean Company, affirmed that orders for 2025 are expected to be plentiful. Since December 2024, the company has been producing goods for the spring and summer seasons of 2025, requiring employees to work overtime to meet demand, which has contributed to business growth.

Opportunities from Order Shifts

One of the important factors creating a new wave of orders for Vietnam’s textile industry is the significant shift of orders from countries such as China, Bangladesh, and Myanmar to Vietnam. This is considered a golden opportunity for domestic enterprises to receive more new orders from the beginning of 2025.

Order diversions from China and Bangladesh open new avenues for Vietnam’s textile export growth in 2025

The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association has set a target of reaching export turnover of 47-48 billion USD in 2025, a figure calculated and carefully researched based on current order trends. With stable orders and flexible development strategies, Vietnam’s textile industry has a solid foundation to achieve this goal.

Sustainable Development Strategy

Ms. Le Nguyen Trang Nha – Member of the Executive Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Association of Textile, Embroidery, and Knitting, has proposed six main solutions for the development of the textile industry in 2025, including: applying clean technology, sustainable investment, market diversification, human resource development, advanced technology application, and effective capital mobilization.

To maintain growth momentum, businesses need to:

  1. Diversify Markets and Products: Expansion into new markets such as Africa, Southeast Asia, and Russia is showing clear effectiveness. Businesses need to continue diversifying markets, customers, and products to increase flexibility and sustainable development.
  2. Accept Flexible Orders: Mr. Pham Van Viet from Viet Thang Jean Company shared that one of the strategies helping the company grow rapidly is accepting small orders and focusing on fashion items. This strategy allows businesses to adapt quickly to market demands.
  3. Improve Production Efficiency: Improving labor productivity, controlling costs, and optimizing production processes are important factors helping businesses maintain competitive advantages in an increasingly competitive market.
  4. Strengthen Customer Relationships: Building strong, reputable relationships with existing customers is the foundation for ensuring order stability in the future.

Challenges and Prospects

Despite many positive signals, Vietnam’s textile industry still faces many challenges such as fierce competition from countries with low production costs, increasingly high requirements for environmental and social standards, as well as pressure from international trade agreements.

However, with efforts in technology innovation, market expansion, and production capacity enhancement, Vietnam’s textile industry is gradually affirming its position in the global market. The current stability of orders along with flexible development strategies is creating a solid foundation for the industry’s strong breakthrough in 2025.

Despite challenges, Vietnam’s textile sector is poised for strong growth with innovation and adaptation

Experts predict that textile exports will continue to maintain good growth momentum in the following quarters of 2025 if businesses continue to maintain sustainable development strategies and adapt quickly to fluctuations in the global market.
